I expect vigorous debate on this but these are the kinds of weighty issues the Capitol Hill Community Council must take a stand on if we are to win the attention and the respect of the citizenry. Cal Anderson is statue-less. With his career winding down, Dan Savage would make a fantastic figure to honor for generations to come. What can we do to put these plans in motion? Bake sale? Car wash?

Surely this issue should be discussed at the 2008 CH Community Council election on June 5th at 6:30p @ upper level CHAC.

Perhaps we can incorporate a fountain element or birdbath.

This is ridiculous cockamanie. Do you realize how expensive birdbaths are? Not to mention the idea of equating Dan Savage with the great William H. Seward whose noble visage overlooks Volunteer Park. This will not stand!

Hate to end the debate but a Bruce Lee statue has dibs already along with a bust of Cal Anderson and a flower garden memorial for Shannon Harps.

The flower garden memorial for Shannon Harps is a new idea that can perhaps take root at the June 5th elections.
I recall reading an article in which Shannon's friends say she was so innocent and non-violent that I thought a flower garden in her memory would be appropriate. They can continue to grow in her name.

Any ideas of a small garden design or perennial suggestions?
Perhaps Dan will consider donating a birdbath.
